[Remote] Engineering Manager, Data Science (Remote, Continental United States)

They are seeking an Engineering Manager, Data Science to lead a team of data scientists and engineers, guiding technical direction and ensuring the delivery of data science solutions while fostering a collaborative team environment. Responsibilities • Lead consistent 1-on-1s with direct reports focused on growth, wellbeing, and performance • Manage the full performance cycle — goal setting, ongoing feedback, and formal reviews • Mentor and develop data scientists and engineers of varying skill levels • Foster a collaborative, high-trust team environment where innovation thrives • Monitor team engagement, taking proactive steps to address issues • Drive team growth through strategic hiring and onboarding • Guide the development and delivery of machine learning models, analytical pipelines, and AI-powered solutions • Partner with engineering and product teams to align on priorities and ensure smooth execution • Promote best practices in data science — model quality, reproducibility, documentation, and responsible AI • Translate complex data science outputs into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders • Communicate across all levels — from individual contributors to senior leadership — with clarity and confidence • Align data science efforts with broader business and client objectives • Represent and advocate for your team's work, capacity, and needs Skills • 5+ years of experience managing data science or analytics teams with a strong focus on people development • Hands-on background in data science, machine learning, or advanced analytics • Strong technical foundation in Python, SQL, and relevant DS/ML frameworks • Experience working in cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP) • Familiarity with Agile practices and data engineering workflows • Outstanding communication skills and the ability to bridge technical and non-technical audiences • A genuine commitment to growing the people around you • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, or related); experience is the most relevant factor • Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance • Candidates residing in the DMV area preferred Benefits • Health Insurance -100% employer-paid premiums – ICA covers the full cost of one of three offered medical plans • Dental Insurance • Vision insurance • Health Spending Account • Flexible Spending Account • Life and Disability insurance • 401(k) plan with company match • Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick Leave and Holidays) • Education and Professional Development Assistance • Remote work from anywhere within the continental United States Company Overview • ICA is a trusted partner and innovative force in transforming public health through advanced data, technology, and close collaboration.
