IDEC also provides customized control solutions, including robot system integration where absolute safety is required in places with people and robots working as a team. The Mission With a customer centric mindset, the Automation field sales engineer is expected to establish strong relationships throughout a customer’s organization (purchasing managers, maintenance, engineering departments, etc.) to ensure optimal customer satisfaction and revenue generation. Primary Role Responsibilities • Manage all aspects of outside sales in specified territory. • Hunt, develop, and maintain customer relationships through planned sales calls to existing and prospective customers. • Expand IDEC OEM business based on company strategy and business plan. • Identify and participate in the customer design cycle. • Assist in trouble shooting bugs and problems at customer site. • Ability to work with customers and product marketing to help define and develop custom products, ability to document and communicate requirements. • Work with distributor and customer engineering staff to have IDEC products specified. • Conduct IDEC product training sessions and new product updates for local distributors and end-user OEMs. Handle sales promotions. • Manage local distribution mix to ensure IDEC product is a primary focus for continued growth. • Logging all activities into CRM and keeping opportunities up to date frequently. Desired Work Experience • Minimum of 3 years of experience in technical sales, field engineering, or related roles. • BS degree or comparable work experience required; engineering degree preferred • Possess technical aptitude in one or more areas of: machine control, safety, operator interface, panel design, automated guided vehicles • Experience in B2B sales, preferably in technical or engineering-focused industries. • A proven track record of closing the sale. • Familiarity with sales methodologies and CRM systems. • Familiarity with relevant software applications and tools, such as CAD software and technical documentation. • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams) • Familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance requirements. • Must be able to work in an industrial and manufacturing environment daily as required. Additional Requirements • Interstate and international travel may be required. • May need to be available outside normal working hours should issues arise. • Must pass a security background check and drug screening. • Travel: Ability to travel up to 50% or as required to meet with clients, attend trade shows, and visit project sites.
