Hearst Magazines is one of the world’s largest publishers of monthly magazines, and they are seeking a Temporary Assistant Editor to help shape automotive storytelling across social platforms. The role involves creating and managing social media content, analyzing performance, and collaborating with editorial teams to enhance brand consistency. Responsibilities - Pitch, produce, shoot, edit, and publish vertical video content optimized for social platforms - Execute daily social posting across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter/X, and other emerging platforms - Create engaging, timely text-overlaid photo posts that drive audience interaction and traffic - Monitor social channels and trends to identify real-time story opportunities - Support social strategy for major editorial initiatives, including tentpoles like Performance Car of the Year and magazine cover launches - Analyze performance using tools like Google Analytics and platform insights to inform content decisions - Send daily Apple News notifications and assist with Flipboard curation - Collaborate cross-functionally with editorial teams to amplify content and ensure brand consistency Skills - 1+ years of experience in social media management, preferably within a media or publishing environment - Strong writing skills with sharp editorial judgment and a creative, engaging voice - Proven ability to create compelling social-first content, including video and visual storytelling - Familiarity with platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter/X, and Apple News - Experience using analytics and social tools (e.g., Google Analytics, True Anthem) to drive performance - Basic proficiency in Adobe Premiere and Photoshop - Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment - Enthusiasm for emerging social trends and a willingness to experiment - Passion for automotive content and alignment with the Road & Track brand is strongly preferred - Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field preferred, or equivalent experience Company Overview - Hearst Newspapers is the division in charge of Hearst's newspapers, local digital marketing service businesses, and directories.
