Seasonal Intern, Litigation/ESI Department

The Austin office of Baker Botts L.L.P. is seeking undergraduate students to intern on a full-time temporary basis in the Litigation/ESIR department. A 4-week minimum commitment is required. The intern, under the supervision of the ESIR Partners, will support and provide assistance with a wide range of assignments in the Litigation/ESIR department. The intern must be flexible to work wherever needed. Essential duties and responsibilities - Duties will vary based on departmental assignments and needs. - These may include, but are not limited to, monitoring and summarizing agency agenda meetings, researching and drafting client development-type papers, monitoring CLEs, participating in Mickey Leland Internship activities hosted by TCEQ and participating in agency regulatory opportunities, such as monitoring agency stakeholder meetings or rulemaking public meetings. - Project assignments may also include data entry in various firm systems. - Interns will assist with other tasks, duties and projects as assigned by ESIR Partners. Qualifications - Some college is required. Interest in studying/pursuing environmental law in the future is a plus. - Duties will vary based on departmental assignments and needs. - These may include, but are not limited to, monitoring and summarizing agency agenda meetings, researching and drafting client development-type papers, monitoring CLEs, participating in Mickey Leland Internship activities hosted by TCEQ and participating in agency regulatory opportunities, such as monitoring agency stakeholder meetings or rulemaking public meetings. - Project assignments may also include data entry in various firm systems. - Interns will assist with other tasks, duties and projects as assigned by department manager. - Must be able to work in a multi-task environment using planning and prioritization skills to manage workload in a fast-paced environment. - Must be able to work with a team lead to effectively and successfully complete approved projects. - Must be able to work in a remote, virtual work environment. Extent of Contact (Within and outside the Firm) This position requires contact with individuals within the firm as follows: - Extensive daily online contact with lawyers, staff and colleagues across departments. Physical Demands - Must be able to work at a computer for considerable periods of time. - Position requires extensive telephone use. Working Condition and Environment - Work is normally performed in a remote work environment. - Must be able to perform essential duties of the position with time constraints and frequent interruptions. Ability to work well in a high-pressure environment.
