Title: SAP MES Consultant
Location: Morris Plains, NJ (Hybrid)
Description:
POSITION OVERVIEW : We are seeking an experienced SAP MES Manufacturing Functional Consultant to design, implement, and support Manufacturing Execution System (MES) solutions integrated with SAP S4/HANA. The consultant will work closely with business stakeholders, production teams, and technical teams to optimize shop-floor operations, ensure real-time visibility, and improve manufacturing efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Gather and analyze manufacturing business requirements and translate them into SAP MES functional solutions
Lead SAP MES (ME/MII/DMC or SAP Digital Manufacturing) implementations and rollouts
Configure MES processes including:
Production execution
Work instructions
Quality inspections
Genealogy & traceability
Non-conformance and rework
Shop-floor data collection
Integrate SAP MES with:
SAP S/4HANA / ECC (PP, QM, MM, PM)
PLCs and third-party shop-floor systems
Support end-to-end manufacturing process mapping (Make-to-Stock, Make-to-Order, Engineer-to-Order)
Prepare functional specifications for custom developments
Support UAT, cutover, go-live, and hypercare phases
Collaborate with global and cross-functional teams
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent.
At least 5 years MES/DMC implementation and rollout experience.
Minimum 1 full cycle implementation experience.
Functional Skills
Strong experience in SAP MES / SAP ME / SAP MII / SAP Digital Manufacturing (DMC)
Deep understanding of manufacturing operations:
Discrete / Process / Repetitive Manufacturing
Hands-on knowledge of:
Production Orders & Execution
BOMs, Routings, Work Centers
Quality Management on the shop floor
Traceability & genealogy
Experience integrating MES with SAP PP, QM, MM, PM
Technical & Integration Knowledge
Familiarity with MES ERP integration concepts
Experience working with REST/SOAP services, IDocs, RFCs (functional perspective)
Understanding of IIoT, Industry 4.0, and smart factory concepts is a plus
Nice to have
Exposure to process industry
SAP MES / SAP DMC certification
Exposure to OEE, KPI dashboards, and manufacturing analytics
Knowledge of SAP BTP for MES extensions
