[Remote] Bookkeeper / Controller

They are seeking a client-facing Bookkeeper / Controller who will manage bookkeeping tasks and provide financial oversight, helping clients understand their finances and improve processes. Responsibilities • Full-cycle month-end close in QuickBooks Online • General ledger maintenance and reconciliations (bank, credit card, AR/AP) • Revenue recognition and expense classification • Payroll review and coordination • Clean-up of legacy books and historical accounting corrections • Sales tax coordination and reporting support • Monthly financial statement preparation (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) • Variance analysis and financial insights for founders • Cash flow tracking and forecasting • Budget development and monitoring • Establishing internal controls and accounting policies • Process improvement and documentation (SOP development) • Participate in recurring client calls (monthly / bi-weekly) • Translate financial results into plain-English insights for business owners • Identify financial risks, inefficiencies, and growth opportunities • Support CPA coordination for tax filings • Assist with financing, lender reporting, and due diligence as needed Skills • 5+ years of accounting experience (public accounting or small business advisory a plus) • Deep expertise in QuickBooks Online • Strong month-end close and reconciliation background • Ability to manage multiple clients simultaneously • Strong communication skills — able to explain financial concepts clearly • Comfortable working in fractional, project-based engagements • QuickBooks Online (advanced proficiency) • Excel / Google Sheets (strong working knowledge) • CPA preferred (or CPA-track strongly encouraged) • Experience supporting founder-led or small business clients • Experience with financial clean-up projects preferred • Experience with online bookkeeping environments and cloud-based systems • Bill.com • Gusto or similar payroll platforms • Expensify or expense management tools • Shopify, Stripe, Square integrations • Other cloud-based accounting ecosystems Benefits • Flexible, fractional engagement model • Exposure to diverse founder-led businesses • Opportunity to grow into Controller or Fractional CFO leadership • Collaborative team environment • High-trust, execution-focused culture • Opportunity to build long-term client relationships Company Overview • East 57 Street Partners focuses on professional accounting, banking, transaction advisory, regulatory complianace, HR & project consulting.
