JOB SUMMARY:
The Conflicts Specialist at IMS is responsible for identifying, assessing, and resolving conflicts of interest as they arise and evaluate the risk to IMS, our firm clients, and our reputation within the legal industry. The Conflicts Specialist leverages various sources, to include our primary CRM and any acquired organization documentation to research and analyze our ability to provide services for an incoming need. The Conflict Specialists team serves as a gatekeeper for our inbound/intake process and is the primary point of contact to investigate and identify any perceived issues in taking a new case on.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Receives and reviews new incoming service requests to determine if all pertinent data has been provided and communicates with internal and external clients to procure conflict data
- Performs searches on party names, firms, issues in the case, patent numbers, and other relevant data points from a complaint to determine if a conflict exists
- Receives incoming requests from external clients and assesses the need along with the case type to determine the service fulfillment center that will address the need
- Generate new leads for our sellers and consultants to pursue to determine if a new case is ideal for our IMS model
- Performs intake steps to include gathering pertinent details around cases and the needs, communicates with counsel to gather expert details, and declines incoming requests, as appropriate, when the need does not align with the IMS model
- Analyzes conflict trends and cascades trends to revenue and consulting leaders across the IMS enterprise
- Creates appropriate entities, based on the service need, within IMS’ systems and ensures all documentation related to the evaluation and assessment of the case is stored within the project in our CRM
- CRM data management and analysis
- Monitors new activity for existing cases from various legal tools and cascades key case calendared dates and progress to sellers and consultants as well as updates matters within the CRM
- Proactively analyze, research and document detailed information through legal dockets and legal news focusing on activity within the federal and state courts, the International Trade Commission (ITC) and other various specialized courts
- Power user of IMS CRM/ATS
- Docket analysis and interpretation
- Responsible for upkeep of business conflicts and documenting any firms, companies, or case issues that must be escalated for evaluation before moving forward on accepting a new case
- Responsible for assessing and recommending changes to our search acceptance policy and collaborating with RevOps leadership on the implementation of those changes companywide
- Participates in merger and acquisition conflict analysis during due diligence
- Adheres to IMS compliance criteria as it relates to conducting and evaluating conflicts
- Prepares escalation documentation for the escalation committee that includes details on IMS’ relationship with the firm, attorney, revenue trends, and practice area trends
- Receives add on requests and appropriately creates new services to existing projects
- Evaluates incoming needs to determine which service line is best positioned to quickly and efficiently service the need
- Supports Director on strategic business development initiatives
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Strong technical aptitude and ability to master various software programs and web-based software tools
- The ideal candidate displays a positive, outgoing approach to service for internal and external clients
- Handles multiple projects simultaneously, with little direction, and with high sense of urgency
- Works well when faced with critical deadlines, works efficiently under pressure, and produces a high volume of accurate work
- Proven ability to work independently and as a team member
- Experienced in researching, collecting, analyzing and reporting complex data to executive level leadership
- Displays excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and analytical skills
- Demonstrates sound judgment and tact
- Exercises critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Possesses a high aptitude for conducting detailed legal research and understanding case progression
- Functions well in a team setting as both motivator and support player
EDUCATION & TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 4 years of business experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience preferred with collecting, analyzing, and reporting complex data
- Experienced in evaluating conflicts of interest is strongly preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience preferred working within a law firm or legal services organization required (will consider candidates who have previously worked in a banking, compliance, or a contracts role)
- Experience with Smartsheets and DOMO a plus
- High proficiency with MS Office 2017– specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook (intermediate to advanced skills required)
- Familiarity with ATS/CRM tool a plus (Sales Force, Dynamics, Bullhorn, etc.)
- Advanced experience conducting searches via the internet required
- Familiarity with legal tools such as Lexis, Westlaw, Juris Medicus, Global Arbitration Review and/or Law360 a plus
- Data entry experience required
- Prior data analysis experience required
- Effective and efficient use of Quick Keys preferred

- This position is 100% remote and supports east to west coast time zones
