Role Description
This role involves leading Young Life’s long-term strategy for ministry with and among Catholics.
• Serve as senior advisor to the President/CEO and Mission Leadership on Catholic relations, theological considerations, communications, and global opportunities.
• Integrate Catholic engagement strategy across major mission departments (Young Life, Wyld Life, College, Military, Camping, Development, HR, Learning and Leadership, MarCom).
• Represent Young Life confidently with executive presence in national and international Catholic settings.
Build and lead a global team focused on Catholic partnerships, ministry expansion, and training.
• Attract and develop a pipeline of high-capacity Catholic staff and volunteer leaders across the mission.
• Direct the creation of all mission-wide training content related to Catholic ministry, ensuring theological accuracy and pastoral sensitivity.
• Teach and present at Young Life training events and key Catholic conferences.
Build and steward high-level relationships with cardinals, bishops, diocesan leaders, religious orders, Catholic universities, Catholic organizations, and global partners.
• Develop a leadership team that guides regions and areas in launching and strengthening Young Life ministries in Catholic parishes, schools, dioceses, universities, and military bases.
• Strengthen Young Life’s role as the Catholic Church’s premier partner in youth evangelization.
• Position Young Life Camping as an important resource for Catholics, including the Adult Guest program.
Lead fundraising strategies to fuel expansion of Catholic-related ministry initiatives that fulfill the needs of the Catholic Initiatives strategic plan.
• Cultivate major donors, foundations, and diocesan partners who invest in Catholic engagement and ministry growth.
• Partner with Development leadership on cases for support, donor vision, and long-term sustainability of Catholic programming.
• Maintain full compliance with Young Life financial policies and raise personal support as required.
Qualifications
• Minimum of fifteen years of relevant professional experience.
• At least eight years of executive or senior leadership experience in Catholic ministry, non-profit or youth evangelization, and/or for-profit enterprise.
• Practicing Catholic with active involvement in parish life and deep understanding of Catholic faith and culture.
• Executive presence and communication skills with proven ability to lead large organizations, including strategy, management, operations, and execution.
• Proven ability to navigate complex, multi-stakeholder environments to initiate and build relationships and mutually beneficial collaboration.
• Demonstrated success securing and stewarding multimillion-dollar fundraising partnerships (or corporate fundraising success).
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree or advanced degree preferred.
• Knowledge of/experience in youth ministry, ideally Catholic CCD.
• Diocesan experience.
• Prominence and stature in the Catholic world.
Working Conditions
• Up to 50% travel required.
• Must be able to navigate varied physical environments, including those at Young Life camps.
