Role Description
Job Title: Shift Operations Manager / Department Manager
Department: Group Supply, Canning
Reports to: Manufacturing Manager (Site based)
Location: Long Sutton
Night Shifts Only - Monday to Friday
Job Purpose Princes are looking for an experienced Shift Operations Manager to join our impressive canning site at Long Sutton! The successful candidate will lead the shift or department manufacturing team to drive operational excellence and achieve the production of quality, defect free products in a safe and efficient manner under the manufacturing principles of QCDSP.
They will lead all aspects on shift or department of the production of factory products, including management of materials and labour. Particular emphasis is placed on the short to medium term strategy of enabling the factory to respond to the growth plans of all brands in area of control. They will support the team in ensuring maximum utilisation of operational staff and equipment in achieving optimal line efficiency within the Company safety, quality & environmental policies.

? Direct reports (4 x Manufacturing Shift Co-ordinators).

Principal Responsibilities
?e supportive, act with integrity, show enthusiasm and embrace openness
?ave in depth understanding of the Princes Operating System (POS) and maturity matrix, and site Must Win Battle Plans.
?upport and lead lean manufacturing work practices including 5s, AM, problem solving (including root cause analysis) to drive continuous improvement activity at site.
?eputise for Site Manufacturing Manager during their absence on shift.
?ead the Manufacturing team in the fulfilment of targets set by site specific KPI? to ensure departmental and individual goals and objectives are aligned and achieved through tactical and business objectives.
?ead the wider operational teams outside of normal office hours in the fulfilment of targets set by site specific KPI?, to ensure departmental and individual goals and objectives are aligned and achieved through tactical and business objectives.
?fficiently manage the manufacturing canning process to meet production demands, ensuring that associated resources and raw materials are utilised effectively.
?nsure that product meets defined Customer specifications by adhering to recipe instructions and Quality Assurance manufacturing procedures.
?onitor and accurately complete all reporting and recording procedures applicable to the designated tasks.
?ead and develop the team in accordance with HR policies and procedures, including operator training, communication and team development.
?nsure strict conformance to Company hygiene standards whilst protecting Health and Safety throughout production by communicating policies and standards demonstrated through behavioural safety audits.
?onitor and maintain all process equipment reporting faults / problems to the appropriate source through the established continuous improvement reporting system.
?ndertake any other tasks / projects as required by the Manufacturing Manager.
?ontribute to the health & safety of self and others by applying health and safety principles to the required standards whilst undertaking designated tasks.
?he seniority of your position requires you to be flexible and work the hours and shifts necessary to perform your role. You may be required to work other shifts temporarily i.e. to attend meetings, training etc. or on a permanent basis based on business need. Appropriate communication and notice will be given.
