We are looking for a talented Senior Data Engineer to design, improve, and maintain the core data infrastructure powering our business modeling, including databases, data pipelines, and servers. Job Responsibilities As a Senior Data Engineer on the Business Analytics team, you will be responsible for: Designing, improving, and maintaining the core data infrastructure powering our business modeling, including databases, data pipelines, and servers Partnering with our data scientists and analysts to design and build powerful data pipelines required for our modeling Partnering with our analysts to design optimized SQL queries, enabling scalable reporting with a growing data volume Coordinating with the IT BI team to validate and push optimized queries with logic to our upstream DataMart Building and maintaining local ETLs for our specific data technology models and ad-hoc reporting Partnering with the IT BI team to enable data sharing processes to flow between our internal database and our corporate data warehouse, and/or other local databases Thinking strategically about building a scalable system with a growing data volume and identifying process gaps/areas for optimization and automation Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: Mastery of relational databases, SQL, and ETL tools Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field 5+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field Proven track record of building, deploying, and optimizing complex data pipelines (batch and streaming) Deep understanding of data engineering best practices and normalization techniques Solid experience with Unix/Shell, Python, and big data technologies (Apache Spark, Kafka) Expertise in designing distributed APIs, web services, and using orchestration tools (Docker, Apache Airflow, CI/CD) Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: Experience working with cloud-based data platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) Knowledge of data governance and data quality best practices Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems (Git, SVN) Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Strong technical skills, with the ability to design and implement complex data systems Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data issues and develop creative solutions Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams Ability to think strategically, with a focus on building scalable and efficient data systems Strong attention to detail, with a focus on delivering high-quality results Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Tesla, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
